THE King and Queen Consort are hosting a royal Christmas lunch at Windsor Castle this afternoon.
Up to 50 family members are gathered in Berkshire for the festive bash before the big day itself on Sunday.
Guests are expected to tuck into turkey with all the trimmings followed by more Yuletide fun later on.
Charles, 74, and Camilla, 75, were spotted arriving shortly after midday, closely followed by Prince Edward, 58, Sophie Wessex, 57, and Lady Louise, 19.
Behind them was Princess Anne, 72, and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, 67.
It is not known exactly who else is in attendance, but it is thought to include the same group coming together on December 25, plus a few extras.
The King and Queen Consort have invited large numbers to Sandringham for their first Christmas Day without the Queen, who died in September.
Camilla will have her son Tom Parker Bowles, 47, and daughter Laura Lopes, 44, at the table for the first time.
Disgraced Prince Andrew, 62, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 63, have also been given the nod for the Norfolk celebration.
Prince William and Kate, both 40, and their three children, Edward and Sophie and family, Princesses Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 32, plus their husbands and kids will likely be there.
And I’m a Celebrity star Mike Tindall, 44, is also expected, along with wife Zara, 41, and their three youngsters.
But Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, who this month released a Netflix documentary about their lives, will spend the festive period in California with their children Archie and Lilibet, it is thought.
Senior aides have said as many members of the family as possible will walk to church together in a show of unity after a difficult year.
One said: “Camilla is keen that her family are at the heart of Christmas, particularly as Charles won’t have his youngest son there.
“It is an extremely important Christmas coming just months after they last all gathered for the Queen’s funeral.”
Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for the King and Camilla for seven years, said this year’s festivities will be bittersweet.
He told The Mirror: “I think for them it will very emotional this year and I’ve no doubt there are tears that will be shed on the day or the night before because they will be remembering her.
“But I’m sure as well it will be a fun time for the youngsters and it will also carry on how the Queen would have wanted it to.”
It will be the first time the royals have spent Christmas at Sandringham since 2019.
The lunch on the Wednesday before Christmas and the knees-up on the day itself are just two of the Firm’s festive traditions.
The list also includes giving gifts on December 24, a church service the following morning, the monarch’s speech, and attendance at the Royal Variety Performance.
This year, the Earl and Countess of Wessex watched the recording of the 95th show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
It airs tonight at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
