Tesla opens 5 NSW Superchargers to other brand Electric Cars

Tesla is now allowing other brands of electric cars to use 5 of its New South Wales supercharger locations.

This unexpected move seems to be a trial as all the locations are in rural and regional areas:

  • Bathurst
  • Narooma
  • Hollydene
  • Dubbo
  • Tamworth

These older model Superchargers are much slower than an Evie or Chargefox 350kW site but any new charging options in Australia are welcome.

Non Tesla’s pay a higher rate (79c/kW) at these 5 open Tesla chargers, which I expected to happen once Tesla started opening its chargers up to all brands in Australia.

To reduce the per kW charge Tesla offers owners of other brand EV’s a $9.99/month membership option.

Time will tell whether many non Tesla owners take up this membership offer or just use open access Tesla chargers as a emergency option if cheaper Evie/Chargefox locations nearby are broken.
